Back in January, we took Fern on her first hike. We went with friends to Sella Bay. It's about a 30 minute hike down to a secluded bay and some old Spanish ruins. We even took the detector dogs, Sam and Mason, with us. Fern enjoys riding on our backs in the Ergo carrier. Dad carried an umbrella to protect her from the sun, as the hike is mostly in open grassland. Good times were had by all. I didn't take any photos of the actual hike, unfortunately, but there is a longish, unedited video attached which displays the swimming skills of several, including the dogs.
When Fern was about 2 months old, with the urging of my dear friend Jenny, I started taking one picture every single day of Fern. (Allen has even taken some of them!) I post them on Flickr. In the past I tried to insert a slideshow of them on my sidebar but could never figure it out. I am about a month behind and several of the photos are already on the blog, but for those of you who can't get enough of Fern, click on the link for "365 Days in the Life of Fern" on the right sidebar.
Good grief. We are almost through March and I am still blogging about Christmas! I'll just have to skip a few things I was going to post.
So the end of our trip was blessed by a visit from Auntie Rebecca. Fern LOVED her, as you can see below. Fern also had her first food while we were in Texas- bananas!
And finally, a video clip of Papa playing 'Sugar Time' on the piano while Mimi and Fern sing along. (I got a tip from a friend and now I can easily upload better quality videos to the blog!) This video is older than the last two...I apologize for the lack of organizational skills. :)
I don't know why, but these videos sometimes take 10 attempts to get them uploaded. That's why they are so old. A friend gave Fern this cube, which she has used to perfect her standing and cruising skills. Here she is shortly after she had learned that the lever makes the music play. This video was taken over a month ago.
