Fern has Fun.

Here is Fern playing with her first favorite toy, Mortimer the Moose:

It is probably not too thrilling for many (other than myself and maybe Allen), but I love to watch her growing interest with the outside world!

Fresh Air Tummy Time!

We took Fern outside for some fresh air and belly time (on her new blanket that Jannifer made!), but she prefers to lay on her back and smile. She would be happy to know that 'tummy time' seems to be a thing of the past.

Spiders on Guam

Because all of their natural predators have been eradicated by the Brown Treesnake, there is probably one of these things per square foot on Guam. While working, a web will inevitably end up across my face, and for that reason, I have grown to despise the ones that live in the jungle. But I like those which set up their homes at our house, as long as they are out of my way. And Fern likes them too because they keep the bugs at bay. Below is one of our current porch residents.

Here she is, enjoying the comforts of a dry home.

Baby Tricks

I've finally figured out how to upload videos. There is an email option on the camera. The quality is crap but at least you can get an idea of how big Fern is now. She is growing so fast! This weekend she rolled over from her belly onto her back. Today she did it over and over again and seemed to be driven by the clapping and praise. She's got it down!

Today she was also grabbing her 'Sophie the giraffe' with both hands. She investigated it carefully with her eyes. This was the first time she really focused on something she was holding in her hands. And of course she didn't put it down until she had a little nibble.

Even Fern Loves Reggae!

We took Fern to her first reggae show. Until it grew dark and the mosquitoes came out to eat us, we sat way in the back under the shade of the treeline. It was quieter here and Fern loved to watch all 0f the people walking around and dancing. When Rebelution was finally playing, we moved forward with our friends, and applied the ear muffs to Fern's tiny ears. She didn't seem to mind once they were loosened up a bit and she fell asleep readily to the sound of a muffled baseline. We danced gently at the back of the crowd and Fern didn't wake up until hours later when she was hungry. Here are some pictures of the event.

Sitting in the back, in the shade.
