The First Month

The first month has come and gone and we can't believe how much she has already grown. We have already filled a bag with clothes that no longer fit her. She smiles now and is starting to 'talk'. She is becoming a tad more independent as her eyesight is becoming clearer every week. Instead of needing us to take her to see things, she can see them from where she is, and so more content. Allen is leaving for 10 days to trap rats on Goat Island, so it will be just the two of us. I already have a huge amount of respect for single mamas but I know it will triple when Allen leaves! Here are some photos of the past month.

Fern came early

After 15 hours of labor and the support of a doula (and Allen of course), little Fern Kelly arrived 10 days early on June 3rd at 10:20 am. She weighed 6 lbs and 12 ounces. We have been getting to know each other the past two weeks. She is perfect.

Full term and waiting...

Here we are, officially full term at 38 weeks. We are in the middle of tiling the upstairs and finishing a bathroom, but as soon as that is finished I will be walking stairs and bouncing on that birthing ball. I can't wait to not be pregnant again! And of course we can't wait to meet this new little person who has been competing with my internal organs for space these past 9 months!

To blog or not to blog?

With the imminent arrival of our babe, I have decided to follow in the footsteps of a couple of friends (and fam) and start a blog for those of you whom live halfway across the world. I think it is only fair. I won't make any promises as to how often it will be updated, but I'll at least toss a picture or two up every month or so. Who knows...maybe I'll actually enjoy it. I have heard that people change once they have kids.
